Joan - Practice Manager
Joan is the daughter of Dr. Higgins, former owner of the Higgins Animal Clinic and sister clinic to The Wheeling Animal Hospital and Pet Resort.
Joan also runs the Pierre LeBark Pet Boutique where she is greatly enjoying finding both necessary and unique items to sell!
Joan is a Registered Nurse who also has degrees in Psychology and Spanish Education. In her nursing career, she has held positions as a bilingual psychiatric nurse and Director of Nursing for Home Health.
Joan is married to Dr. Roberts and is the mother of two adult children, Lindsay and Alyssa.
In her free time, Joan enjoys creating beaded jewelry and is the coordinator of a community- based English-as-a-second language program.

Matt - Practice Manager
Matt's official title at our clinic is Business Manager, however, he may be seen on any given day in numerous areas of the clinic. Matt often helps out in Daycamp, Kennel, Reception, Vet Teching, and poses as "Santa" for our "Pet Photos with Santa".
A Business major at Harper College, Matt enjoys working at our clinic because he says that he "likes the facility and being a part of a team who really cares about pets".
Among Matt's many pets are two rescued dogs; both Rhodesian Ridgeback mixes, Billy and Honey, a cat named Rum, and a Chameleon named Rocky
In his spare time, Matt likes to read.
Jerry - Surgical Assistant
Gerardo (Jerry) grew up on a farm in Mexico. He is a Veterinarian in his home country. He attended C.E.T.A. Centro de Estudios Agropecuarios en Santa Maria del Oro Durango and C.E.U. Centro de Estudios Universitarios de Monterrey, Nuevo Leon where he received his degree in Medico Veterinario Zootechnista.
Jerry, who is well-known to many of our long-time clients, keeps our surgerical suite organized and functioning smoothly and has been sharing his knowledge with us at The Wheeling Animal Hospital and Pet Resort since 1991.
He lives with his wife, Claudia, two daughters, Natalie and Kaitlin, and their dog named Blue.
Vanya - Lead Veterinary Assistant
Vanya started work here at the Wheeling Animal Hospital, as a Veterinary Technician in August, 2009. She comes to us from Bulgaria, where she completed her education as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2005.
Vanya lives with her husband, and their son. They also have four playful cats named Betsy, Laurie, Mishi & Shoni!
In her free time, Vanya likes to read, watch TV, but most of all...Save Animals!!!
Mike - Veterinary Assistant
Mike started working here at The Wheeling Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Technician in November, 2015.
Exciting news - Mike will be attending a Veterinary School in the fall of 2017. We wish great success on this future accomplishment!
Mike has two Pit Bulls named, Duckie & Vinny. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, fishing & cooking.
Kurtis- Veterinary Assistant
Kurtis started working at the Wheeling Animal Hospital & Pet Resort on June of 2011. Kurtis was our Lead for Kennel/DayCamp. Unfortunately for us, Kurtis took another job, but he still manages to work here twice a month as a Veterinary Assistant. He also is attending school and is working towards finishing his Bachelors Degree.
Kurtis has two dogs, Weezy - a Labrador Retriever, and Max - a Pug.
In his spare time he produces music, plays sports and spends time with his pups!
Debbie - Lead Client Care Specialist
Debbie joined The Wheeling Animal Hospital in February of 2011. Debbie worked for a major airlines, as a Flight Service Manager, which afforded her the opportunity to travel all over the world! She also did volunteer work for Heartland Animal Shelter for over two years prior to working at Wheeling.
Currently Debbie has no animals at her home, she's too busy loving on the ones that come in here to Wheeling!
Outside of work Debbie spends time with her husband and they enjoy traveling and taking long walks. She also loves cooking and baking - which we then get to sample here at Wheeling!
Mary - Client Care Specialist
Mary stated working at The Wheeling Animal Hospital in October of 1991, not long after the little blue and white building became an animal hospital. She is a receptionist and a dedicated "Crazy Cat Lady"! Amazingly she only has one cat of her own, a 8 year old orange and white long haired beauty named Libby, who loves being an only cat.
Mary grew up in Massachusetts and is always missing the beauty of the ocean. She still has some family there and loves to go back home, whenever she can. Now that she has two adorable grandsons, Drew, age 6 and Danny, age 4 (almost) she spends as much time as possible spoiling them to the best of her ability and checkbook!
Mary also enjoys reading and needlework. She loves her job and so enjoys the many adorable animals that stop to say "HI" at the front desk.
Stephanie - Client Care Specialist
Stephanie has been at our facility since April, 2013. She grew up in Lake Forest, IL, and has previously lived in Houston and Dallas, TX, where she worked at an Animal Hospital for three years, before moving back to Illinois.
Stephanie spent many years volunteering at the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), in Texas, as well as volunteered at a St. Bernard/Rottweiler Rescue Organization.
She currently has two dogs; Bella - a Pug, Duke - a Pug mix and her two cats Bo Jangles & Ivan.
Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and two beautiful daughters!
Jodi - Client Care Specialist
Jodi grew up in Glenview, IL and joined The Wheeling Animal Hospital in March of 2011. She has previous veterinary tech experience, and took a 1 year SSC Vet Technician Program.
She is always eager to help with any strays that come in, and gives up her spare time to nurse them back to health.
Jodi has two wonderful dogs, Aurora & Prince Hossa, who enjoy our DayCamp area! She's also previously owned rabbits, guinea pigs, and ferrets.
Jodi enjoys watching hockey and going fishing with her two daughters. In fact, I'd say she's our #1 Black Hawks Fan (GO HAWKS)!
Connie - Client Care Specialist
Connie has been working at The Wheeling Animal Hospital since August of 2015. She grew up in Geneva, IL. Previously Connie worked for an Eye Care Office.
Recently Connie has been working at both Wheeling and our sister hospital, Arlington Golf Animal Hospital. She enjoys working in the animal field, and that everyday she learns something new about animals and loves to journal about it.
Connie has a rescued Chihuahua mix, named Dee Dee.
In her spare time she enjoys dealing with an animal rescue near her home, welfare and behavior, genealogy, travel and reading.
Sue - Lead Pet Resort Reservations Specialist
Sue joined the staff of The Wheeling Animal Hospital and Pet Resort several years ago as a Pet Reservations Specialist.
Sue worked in Human Resources for 15 years before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Once her daughter got older, Sue decided to indulge her passion for animals by working with them on a daily basis.
Sue lives with her husband, daughter, (who is now attending her last year of college at University of Illinois - GO ILLINI!) and two dogs; Buddy, a Beagle, and Weiser, a white Labrador Retriever.
Cristina - Pet Resort Reservations Specialist/Client Care Specialist
Cristina (no H) started working at the Wheeling Pet Resort as a receptionist in July of 2014. Recently she started cross training on the Hospital Side. Making her a valuable resource to clients who opt to have hospital services performed while their pets stay with us.
She was born in Mexico, but grew up on the Northwest side of Chicago. While working customer service jobs since 2008, she finished her college education in August of 2013 and now has a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Media and Theatre from Northeastern Illinois University.
In her spare time she enjoys watching a lot of movies and T.V. shows on Netflix as will as hanging out with her family and friends.
Linda - Pet Resort Reservations Specialist
Linda joined the Wheeling Animal Hospital in February, 2011. She grew up in Chicago, and has lived the past 10 years in Elk Grove Village.
For 17 years she worked in Corporate Travels with American Express, which gave her the opportunity to travel to Europe and throughout the United States.
Linda's pride and joy is her cat, named Matilda.
In her spare time she enjoys going to movies, or just hanging out with family and friends. Also she loves creating "Zentangle" artwork, and baking easy recipes she finds on Facebook (which she then brings in to try out on our staff members)...YUM!!
Susan - Animal Care Lead/DayCamp Lead
Susan started working here at The Wheeling Animal Hospital in October of 2015, she is our Animal Care Lead/DayCamp Lead. Susan grew up in Schaumburg, IL, she also lived in Texas for a couple of years.
Susan really enjoys working with all the animals here at Wheeling.
Currently she has a bunny named Boo Bears and a kitty named Faith. In her spare time she enjoys just hanging out with her furry friends.
Angela - Animal Care Assistant
Angela has been working at Wheeling Animal Hospital since March 2014. She grew up here in Wheeling IL. and attends college at the University of Illinois at Chicago to achieve a Bachelors degree in English.
Reinhart also works as a vocal coach and singer/songwriter in a band called Hart N Fritz. She enjoys taking on opportunities to help the environment, and she loves animals of every kind!
